Malinska Events 2026: Festivals and Summer Nights Month by Month

Malinska is not only about beaches. From May to November the village fills its waterfront with food walks, summer nights, wooden sailing boats and the olive harvest. Here are the main Malinska events in 2026, with the dates that the local tourist board has announced and a few tips from a local.

May and June: Sensa and Malinska Walk & Taste

First of all, late spring starts with Sensa, the island festival around Ascension Day with its famous cheese race. Read the full story in Sensa in Malinska.

Malinska Walk & Taste takes place on 23 May, 30 May and 6 June 2026. These are guided tasting walks through the village with local lamb, wild asparagus and Kvarner wines. Places are limited, so book at the DUBoak centre on the waterfront (Obala 21b).

23 July: the feast of St Apollinaris

St Apollinaris is the patron saint of Malinska, and 23 July is also the Day of the Municipality. As a result, it is a local holiday with a festive atmosphere, and it also opens the busiest week of the summer.

24–25 July: Malinska Nights

Malinska Nights (Malinskarske noći) bring two evenings of music and celebration to the centre on 24 and 25 July 2026. For example, in 2025 the programme included a water polo tournament, a knot-tying workshop and a fishermen’s feast with live music late into the night.

28 August – 6 September: Homo na jidra

Homo na jidra (“Let’s go sailing”) is the festival of traditional wooden sailing boats, which runs from 28 August to 6 September 2026. Expect boats with lateen sails in the harbour, workshops, a guided walk from the pier to the old shipyard and the regatta in memory of Nikola Jurić. Many of the workshops take place at the DUBoak maritime heritage centre, so it is the best time to see Malinska’s seafaring past come alive.

October: Olive Touch

From 10 to 31 October 2026 Olive Touch celebrates olive trees and olive oil. Local hotels prepare food and wellness programmes, and in 2025 there were guided Saturday tours of the olive groves with a tasting at DUBoak. Above all, it is a lovely reason to visit after the summer crowds.

November: Malinska Outdoor Weekend

Finally, on 7 and 8 November 2026 the Outdoor Weekend invites hikers and cyclists to explore the trails around Malinska. More ideas in green activities in Malinska.

Tips for visiting events

  • Check dates before you travel: programmes can change. For instance, in 2025 the organisers moved one night of Malinska Nights because of bad weather. The official events calendar has the latest information.
  • Book early for late July: the week of St Apollinaris and Malinska Nights is the busiest of the year. See where to stay in Malinska.
  • Leave the car: the centre gets crowded, so walk along the seafront. Parking tips are in our free parking guide.
